Okay a couple show notes, first off, Jeremy and Eric has ZERO things to talk about this time around, but we do manage to talk about Footloose the movie, and other such nonsense! I’m going to post this on a separate post, but next time around Jeremy and I would LOVE it if you gave us some Science questions or Kid questions … either one is fine with us … and for all you Joanna fans out there (and I know there’s a lot of you), she will be back on SUNDAY!!!! She is insisting on chiming in on all those relationship issues she was dying not answering, and she would love some SEX questions … so enjoy the static free sounds of Podcast 37, and keep listening cause we rock.

AWESOME! Very glad to have something new and cool to listen to on my Friday commute!
However, I must question your podcast-numbering system. The title of this post says “Podcast 37,” but the podcast I just downloaded is “Podcast 39.”
Dude. Don’t screw with me like that!

Remember there are two “missing” podcasts! The one where Joanna and I got wasted and cried into the mics for two hours … And when we recorded one that had no sound!

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!! You guys kicked some serious ass this time!!!!!!! FUCK YOU guys are funny!!!! DANGER ZONE!!!! sound was good, phew!!! Great drive to work this morning! Everyone was wondering why I was laughing and I said two words, mammalian eggs!!!!!
August 26th, 2011 at 5:51 pm
no truer words have ever been spoken: you can’t live on mammalian eggs! you guys were seriously cracking me up today, what are you guys drinking, anyways? coconut rum with limeaid? is that seriously good? I was asking around school today and everyone I said it too said “wow that sounds amazing!” We’re all going to be worshiping harry potter in the future! Okay you guys, I’m digging the podcast. Vosh was FUCKING hot! and Jeremy good move not sitting to him, I fucking HATE people who talk in the movies (which means I’d stop fucking to KICK YOUR ASS because I hate you so much!) I wasn’t going to comment this week, but I was laughing so hard I had to. I”m serious when you guys spent twenty minutes laughing about mammalian eggs, I thought I was going to bust a gut.
August 26th, 2011 at 8:10 pm
I did not like your comments about God and religion and I feel your disrespect will condemn you both! I’m not sure I will be listening to this podcast anymore. Good luck to you both, the worse thing that ever happened to this podcast was losing Joanna and her good sense, and wisdom to reign Eric in when he was going too far one road or another. Jeremy is as bad if not worse than Eric. Both of them could use a long dose of self reflection. I’m not sure why everyone thought this podcast was funny, I thought it was inane and silly. It is a shame because Eric is a very very talented writer and an artist whose soul is so wonderfully deep but tortured (I will always remember the days of his one person podcasts and how he involved me in his life and feelings so completely), and I have always listened because I wanted to understand how someone like him, who writes such beautiful pieces, thinks and sees his world. I think he has a very bright future ahead of him, but this is not the route.

Okay it’s six o’clock and I downloaded this thing at work today, thinking it was going to be awful. I was expecting to drive home listening to static. I was so wrong. Boys you did it again! You seriously made me spit out my drink on the way home. I personally hold you both responsible for the diet-pespi on my dashboard and up my nose. Oh MY GOD you guys are so my favorite two people in the world right now! I stopped at the store and got some lime-aid and some coconut rum and am enjoying some of your drink that sounded so delightful! I highly recommend it to everyone! I can’t even imagine how fucked up you guys get off this ambrosia! I will post a kid question tomorrow, give up on asking this crowd science questions Jeremy, the only science question I have when I listen to this show is … nevermind that’s biology! 🙂 I have a couple questions for you guys, how many people listen to this podcast, because it really does get a a lot of comments for a blog, and second when you guys gonna hit the big time?! Keep it up, I haven’t forgotten about you Joanna, I anxiously await your return on Sunday! And I’ve got some questions for you girlfriend! Your expertise on the body will come in handy this week, trust me! (eric, I’ll email you the questions! they’ll be signed not kay!)
August 26th, 2011 at 8:22 pm
I just read abby’s comment, and I urge her to listen to other podcasts, Eric has never kept his beliefs a secret, his honesty is what drives this podcast from the very beginning, and I think it just gets better, give him another couple shots, and perhaps you may need to drink a couple lime-aid and coconut rum drinks, which you boys must name soon, I was thinking of calling it the Jer-ic-onut!
August 26th, 2011 at 8:50 pm
WTF?! When has Eric NOT been an atheist? Where the hell did that comment come from?! You guys are great, and f#@$ing funny! You really need some more show prep, but I envy you guys can do a show on the fly like this, and still make me crack up. Just think about what you guys could do with a little prep! Just saying! Gonna try that drink of yours, it sounds great and deadly! Thanks for straightening out (so to speak) the thing about Eric on this podcast. I will email you guys a question or two as well.
August 26th, 2011 at 9:37 pm
Another great podcast. I read some of the other comments, and they seem to be right on. I’m not sure what that Abby chick is smoking, but Eric’s Harry Potter rant was pretty typical of all his other podcasts, including those BORING first ones! I will agree with her on one thing, Eric’s writing skills are hardly ever discussed. He’s an amazing writer, and needs to continue with it. Jeremy and Eric are funny, it’s a pretty simple concept, deal with it!
August 27th, 2011 at 6:11 pm
don’t let the haters in the world get you guys down! You guys gave me great advice last go around so I’m your fan forever! A couple things, first there is this huge controversy about Eric being/not being gay, and then he said he could go for Vosh on Star Trek. I say … interesting! I can’t tell you how hard I laughed at this podcast! Keep it up!
August 27th, 2011 at 6:57 pm
Capital D Democrat, Capital R Republican! I’m going to steal that term, it’s brilliant! This podcast was funnier than hell, I love you guys! I’m glad we cleared up the whether or not Eric is gay or not, but I’m not sure why it should EVER be an issue! As for the chick who got mad about Eric being an Atheist, he has said it HUNDREDS of times! FUCK PEOPLE! don’t listen bitch! Drives to the future … of Mill Valley! I love you guys!
August 27th, 2011 at 8:39 pm
yeah you guys are gelling in a big way. I have to say the time you did some preparation before the show it was better, definitely better! With that said, even off the cuff, you guy are funnier than shit! A couple questions for you, how long have you been friends, and I keep hearing about this wife of Jeremy’s are we going to get to hear from her in the future? I’ve got some kid questions for you guys, I’ll email them though. Okay I’ll be awaiting next week for my friday commute into work. DANGER ZONE! Thanks for that (I listened till the end, Eric … SCORE!)
August 29th, 2011 at 8:12 am
“Vegan is Greek for attention whore” had me literally laughing out loud.
You guys are great! Can’t wait to hear Joanna’s return. 🙂
Here’s my kid question:
Say you have a sweet, naive 12-year-old daughter. What do you tell her about guys and what they’re after? I have friends whose parents told them not to believe anything a guy says because all he’s trying to do is get some. In my experience, that’s not true, plus I don’t like to generalize that way. Thoughts?
And here’s a scifi, not question but recommendation. Ever read E.M. Forester’s short story “The Machine Stops”? It was written in 1909 is it’s vision of the future is pretty incredible. I hadn’t heard of it until I was asked to do a small part in a podcast of it, which is all thanks to Eric! (Indirectly, but still, he’s responsible for all the podcasting I’ve done.) Anyway, you guys should listen to it and let us know what you think:

I’m gonna mention this on the podcast tonight … people don’t listen to me, but it’ll be out there in cyberspace for all the world!

I stand (or sit, whatever) corrected on the podcast count! D’oh! How could I forget the Great Lost Podcasts???
New Superman costume: http://www.supermanhomepage.com/images/superman-returns1/superman-costume2.jpg (Is that the right one? I think it is, but I could be two to three Supermans behind the times … I’m THAT OLD, dude.)
Your options for mammalian eggs are the Monotremes: a href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monotreme
Not sure I can buy the idea that the Brothers Karamazov served as the basis for Kirk, Spock, and McCoy’s dynamic. William Shatner did apparently make his movie debut playing Alexei Karamazov in 1958 film “The Brothers Karamazov” (1958), but that seems to be it (source: http://www.freeinfosociety.com/article.php?id=345). Gene Roddenberry pushed “Star Trek” as a Western set in the stars (specifically, “Wagon Train,” if that means anything to ya) but privately said it was modeled on “Gulliver’s Travels,” for whatever that’s worth (also, my source there was Wikipedia, which isn’t always The Shit, but here it is if you want to read more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek).
Ann Landers and 70% of her respondents claiming they wouldn’t accept a “having kids” do-over: http://www.stats.uwo.ca/faculty/bellhouse/stat353annlanders.pdf
Dear Abby Version 2.0 reprint: http://www.kansascity.com/2011/08/23/3091691/dear-abby-revisiting-the-kids.html (Only five days ago, so apparently, results are not yet in. Stay tuned …)
New “Footloose” trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFVqCtQUtNc (Screw that. I don’t need to see it just with new actors, and a few large explosions, apparently.)
“Fun Trivia” claims the red boots were “sinful,” not specifically fucking sinful, but … I guess close enough? 😉
I’m kind of awed by how many things Jonathan Frakes HAS directed! Lots of “Leverage” episodes and even one on the new “V” before it was canceled, WTH? But more to the point of what you were interested in, he directed both “Star Trek: Insurrection” and “Star Trek: First Contact” (source: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000408/#Director).
The next “Star Trek” movie was supposed to be out next summer (2012), but is reported to be delayed—probably up to a year, as you indicated (source: http://screenrant.com/jj-abrams-star-trek-2-release-date-sandy-125726/). Well, THAT sucks!
LOLs from this podcast (my favorites amongst many): “Vegan to me is Greek for ‘attention whore.'” (Eric) and “Son of a motherless goat!” (Jeremy). Can’t remember the context, but I LIKE it!
Last point (these are all mixed up, but I’m sure you could care less): OH MY GAWD, let the tattooed girl thing GO already! Jeez, if you don’t like ’em, don’t date girls with tattoos (hee!) but beauty IS in the eye of the beholder and I’ll tell you what else a big tattoo on your back is good for, it separates the assholes from the rest of the population like nothing else. People have LITERALLY said to me, “Why would you do that to yourself?” Geez, bitch, I can wear a shirt instead of a tank top, but apparently nasty just POURS out of you. I know plenty of other people don’t like my tats and I could care less, but to say that right in front of someone really says a helluva lot more about them than about my tattoo.
(Which I put a LOT of thought into, and means so much to me, NO, I don’t regret it, YES, I would have endured a waiting period to get it, but WTF is a self-proclaimed Conservative doing even THINKING of proposing such a law, anyway?)
(I really don’t care if you don’t like big tattoos on girls. But I gotta give you shit for it.)
CRIPES! I’m already a podcast behind! Will try to get some links for you on Joanna’s post tomorrow … but you should know that Kinsey shit, you had me look it up for you before. Google is your friend, trust me! 😉

I love that we managed to insult just about everyone in this podcast! Agreed, no more tattoo talk!
August 29th, 2011 at 5:24 pm
Oh, one more thing (for Abby, just in case she is still reading): Abby, with all due respect, I do not understand why (some) religious people have this idea that non-religious people “… could use a long dose of self reflection.” How do you know that Eric and Jeremy have NOT reflected long and hard on religion? Lots of atheists didn’t start out as non-believers, you know.
Another question I have (as a life-long atheist … yeah, baby, I was BORN THIS WAY) is why, when atheists act as if they don’t believe in God, believers get upset? I don’t believe in Zeus, either, so if I want to say, “Oh, dude’s gonna strike me with lightning bolts today, hee!” that is NO DIFFERENT from my perspective than if I joke about God doing it. Let me be very clear about this: it is NOT about a lack of respect … you can’t HAVE a lack of respect when you don’t even have a belief in a deity.
That being said, I do think most social settings call for some deference to unproven beliefs (atheism and theism BOTH in that category). But this is a podcast. This is ERIC’s (and Jeremy’s) podcast. So if it does bother you that much, you probably shouldn’t listen. I remember you from a long time back, though … sorry to see that it’s come to this.
Sorry, but not necessarily surprised. My introduction to this facet of religion came from a “pen-pal” who dropped me upon hearing that I didn’t go to church. I was, oh, eight or so? And yet, I go out of my way to this day to learn about other beliefs (I even listen to “Relevant Radio” on a fairly regular basis … fascinating stuff). I wonder how many believers can say the same thing?
But I digress. Best wishes, Abby. Maybe try “Relevant Radio” sometime … think of us soulless atheists when you hear some of their commentary about us, too, eh? 😉
August 29th, 2011 at 5:27 pm
Shit, I screwed up the monotreme link … well, that’s a pity, but I’m sure you’ll figure it out.
And if not, here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monotreme

ARGH! And here’s the Fun Trivia link: http://www.funtrivia.com/en/Movies/Footloose-10774.html
